About

MY name is Tomoko and I originally come from Japan. I moved to the US with my family when I was 4. As a result, I did not get much influence from Japan growing up, but after I graduated high school, I wanted to change that.

I studied botany and then horticulture in college and took a particular interest in ancient Japanese style gardens. I went to Japan for a year to study under gardening masters there. Read more about my career and life path here.

I graduated from university with a master’s degree in horticulture. I specialize in indoor gardening, but am knowledgeable in all areas. I also still hold a special place in my heart for Japanese gardens and have a section of our backyard devoted to this art.

With this website, I hope to share my love for gardening and also help other aspiring and current gardeners with some of my expertise. Everything will always be free, but you may have to ignore some ads so I can pay for this site. I will try to keep them as unobtrusive as possible.

I still garden extensively, although these days, you are just as likely to find me relaxing in my garden, swinging in my hammock, as you are to find me working hard. You’ve got to enjoy that hard work, after all! And nothing helps me do that more than my hammock.
